Voltron = The Church?

Voltron might ring a bell to you if you watched the 1984 classic anime or if you have kiddos that like to watch lion shaped spacecrafts from the latest 2016 version on Netflix.  Either way this show has some moments that are fantastic to drive home.  A unique thing about the show is that Voltron is the title of the giant space robot that is formed from the five lion shaped spacecrafts (check out this link to see it for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtqKaUc6Uas&ab_channel=VOLTRON ). So these lions are piloted by five "paladins" that are to protect the galaxy from any evil threats.  Each one is powerful and has their own abilities, but they can't force the team to become Voltron.  Voltron is only made by the five paladins working in unity as one and having the same goal in their fight to save the galaxy. What I love about this is that they are willing to show how different these paladins are from one another and having disagreements. However, they were only effective in what they had to do when they were united.

If you have been following the latest "Level Up Talks with Wilson" you know where I am heading on this. I think it is so important to remember that we (people who follow Jesus) are supposed to be united together like Voltron or like the Power Rangers coming together to make the Megazord! Jesus calls us to be united together just like He and God the Father are united (John 17:20-23).  I remind you that the best situation the church has ever been in was when we were united and helping those around us (Acts 2:44-47).  That we have different gifts that are given to us, but those are not for ourselves, they are meant to be used for the benefit of others around us; to strengthen and unite us (1 Corinthians 12).  This is why it is important to invest in a community of people who are also following Jesus (Hebrews 10:25).  It shows what Jesus' heart is for His followers, that we are to strengthen each other.

How long has it been since you have "Formed Voltron" in connecting with a group of Jesus followers? It's not too late; you don't have to be a lone lion. In fact you are stronger if you aren't!
