Between the Panels

In the grimdark world of the far future, there is only…lore. I, like many others, have been swept up by the splatterific and squelchy good time that is Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 . As is my way with any property I interact with, I can’t content myself with simply enjoying the thing in question but instead will never be satisfied until I’ve hyper fixated my way through a deep dive into the lore. And there are few deeper lore dives across all fandoms as can be found with 40k! From a biblical perspective, this franchise in all of its grimdark, blood-soaked, nightmarish glory, actually has a monumental amount to chew on. From the fascinating exploration of mankind’s compulsion for worship with the Imperium of Man, to its emphasis on brotherhood and loyalty, to its exploration of the horrors of war. A series that came out last year and was an enjoyable read has been  DC VS Vampires.   It was great for a couple of reasons.  First is that the DC Universe is working through the situation of a vampire empire being established and taking over the world (very interesting/intense). Second is that Green Arrow is one of the main people pushing the fight against the vampires (repping the Emerald Archer fanbase hard here!) Honestly though, what I have enjoyed the most out of this series is the  impending fear of being unsure of who has been bitten and turned; are there people on your side that you can truly trust?   This series has made me question every character at some point and the plot twist to see who was the head vampire really threw me in for a loop (trust me, you are going to want to read this series). If you have hung out with anyone who is into gaming in anyway, you have likely heard of the game Minecraft . It is a fantastical game of creativity! Gamers love the game's capacity to build amazing structures and worlds.  Some people have even built whole worlds from fantasy fiction such as Middle-Earth (Lord of the Rings) and Hogwarts (Harry Potter). However, if you are playing survival mode, there is an element of danger where you need to build a place of safety .  There is a lot of strategy in building these forts that are safe from enemies at night and are housing of goods/materials you need to live.  You need a strong foundation and safe location to last long in this game .
