DC vs Vampires and Wolves in Sheep's Clothing

A series that came out last year and was an enjoyable read has been DC VS Vampires.  It was great for a couple of reasons.  First is that the DC Universe is working through the situation of a vampire empire being established and taking over the world (very interesting/intense). Second is that Green Arrow is one of the main people pushing the fight against the vampires (repping the Emerald Archer fanbase hard here!) Honestly though, what I have enjoyed the most out of this series is the impending fear of being unsure of who has been bitten and turned; are there people on your side that you can truly trust?  This series has made me question every character at some point and the plot twist to see who was the head vampire really threw me in for a loop (trust me, you are going to want to read this series).


What it reminded me of was Jesus' warning about wolves in sheep's clothing in Matthew 7:15 "Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves." Imagine feeling that impending fear of being unsure who's words of wisdom is right or wrong, especially in Jesus' day when there other people claiming to have words from God for people to listen to.  The following verses speak of being able to tell who they are based on how they act.  Just as a grape can't be a thistle, it's same with people who are not in Jesus will not show a life that is following His teachings.  It's like the hunt to find out who is a vampire in DC vs Vampire.  There are telling signs that a person is not human, that they are a threat. Once they find that out, it could be too late to do something about it.

There is a lot of stuff out there that may say that it is wisdom, but have you done the sniff or vampire test  on it?  Have you taken it to Jesus' teachings and found it is supported or contradictory to it? How are you helping those around you avoid the lurking dangerous thoughts/wisdom out there?

Living in our modern North American context, the word “ refuge ” isn’t a word we have to think about too terribly often. This is quite unique, historically speaking, as the idea of having a shelter from the dangers of the world is ubiquitous throughout history and culture. You don’t even have to go back far to the nuclear paranoia of the mid to late 20th century and the concept of a fallout shelter being a much more common notion to people’s minds. Burnout, Meet Barry Allen by PLo

The Flash is by far one of my favourite superhero shows. In university, I would book the tv in my dorm’s commons room every week to watch it live. I like the Flash for a lot of reasons, but the biggest reason for me is that Barry was honest about his strengths. He learned the hard way what he could do and what he couldn’t. In season 6 episode 15, Barry is faced with the reality that his powers aren’t as strong as he needs them to be and they are fading. Barry doesn’t believe he will be able to help the city because of how burnt out he is .
