Ten Billion Percent: Blessed Assurance


I am ten billion percent sure that you are going to love this anime recommendation! Why ten billion percent you might ask? Because I can! No in all seriousness, you are going to want to check out the anime "Dr. Stone".  Essentially, humanity has been turned to stone for almost 4,000 years and Senku (Dr. Stone) is the only one trying to restart civilization.  However, the cool part is that he is doing this by taking modern day science and applying it to a Stone Age world.  Throughout the show he has this wonderful catchphrase of "ten billion percent" that he attaches to everything that he is absolutely sure of. I love that he is absolutely sure in his knowledge of science that he is even willing to defy logic by saying he is ten billion percent sure of what he is doing.

You may remember an old hymn "Blessed Assurance" that you may have heard in your grandparents church services or records playing in the background.  This song has a wonderful connection to scripture that I think can give you that ten billion percent assurance and it is found in Hebrews 10:22-23. "let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ's blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise." The big deal here was that to enter God's space (Holy of Holies in the Old Testament) the high priest was the only one that could do that and he had to be absolutely sure (ten billion percent) that he was right with God, otherwise he would die from God's shear awesomeness/perfection. But because Jesus is the one who is our high priest that can meet with God, when we are sprinkled with his blood (choosing to be connected with and following him) we also have the blessed assurance that we can stand before God too.

Are you ten billion percent sure of your connection with Jesus that you can go about your life knowing that you are good with God and can talk to Him? Do you have the blessed assurance that God is good on His word/promises that He makes to always be with you?

Ich bin euer schild!

What's not to love about a character like Reinhardt (Overwatch tank hero)? He is a giant, older man who dives into the fray to protect his team in the middle of the fight.  This epic, German hero not only has a ginormous rocket hammer and massive armour, but also sports an immensely huge energy shield.  An energy shield that acts as both protection and a mobile fortress for the team to advance their ground.  However, this all pails in comparison to the enthusiastic battle cry from this mythically large brute, "Ich bin euer schild!" Translated from German to English (varified by our own German International Staff) "I am your shield!" As a player in the game I have seen this shield in action and it definitely offers a sense of peace as well as a drive to advance forward in competitive game play. What kind of Lantern are you?

What kind of lantern are you ? Kind of a weird question to ponder on isn't it. You might respond back with "Well what's the purpose of the lantern? What do you mean by using the word 'lantern'?" These are valid responses/questions to bring up, but I pose this question in processing what Jesus says in Matthew 5:14-16 , " You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house . In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father." Not going to lie, this makes me think of Kilowag (a Green Lantern member and mentor), teaching Hal Jordan on how to be a GL ( Green Lantern ) and how to use his ring.
