Side Quests: Quest Menu

Don’t you wish you could have everything in life organized in priority and immediacy? Admittedly, this is one thing that I think video games/role-playing games does well.  Typically, when you are pausing after finishing a big quest or are in the break of the story; you are brought to your quest menu.  The quest menu is so helpful not just seeing what you have accomplished (getting that pat on the back), but seeing whether it is a main plot task or a side quest.  Along with that, there are sometimes promptings of events that you can jump into immediately to find impressive loot or a level up for your character. However, if you didn’t have this menu to navigate through or prioritize what quests you are taking, you might just aimlessly go around not making as much progress. It helps to be organized and to be able to go into the game with a plan and an intentional goal for your character to grow in their journey. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?

Jesus actually has something that helps bring some guidance to what is the main focus in our life, but also in prayer. It’s know as The Lord’s Prayer and if you are not familiar with it here is a refresher:

Our Father in heaven
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need,
and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one.
Matthew 6:9-13

Ok, now that you got that, Jesus has given us the priorities we are supposed to focus on each day when we are connecting with God.  1) God is #1 and raise him above everything. 2)We are looking for how God is impacting earth to be more like heaven and taking His lead. 3) God is the one who takes care of us and our needs. 4) We are conduits of the grace we have been given to give it to those around us. 5) Don’t get sidelined by destructive wants. These are the gauges or menu that we can arrange our lives by in prayer and actions in life. Keep the gauge in mind so that you can remember what are the priorities in life.

Nightcrawler's Faithful Love

Not going to lie, Nightcrawler is one of my favourite X-Men.  For people who might not know Nightcrawler other than being the demon looking mutant might ask why I would like such a person?  To me, he is the embodiment of the phrase "you should not judge a book by its cover, but by his heart and deeds". Batman . I mean, hands down one of the coolest characters ever created. Some would argue he’s the greatest superhero of all time (they are obviously mistaken, Superman is the OG). But if you’ve been reading some of the more recent Batman comics, you’ll know that ol’ Brucie’s not doing so hot these days. It all kinda started when his bride to be, Selina Kyle (better known to some as Catwoman ) left him at the alter. What had, to that point, been something of an upward trend for the Dark Knight suddenly took a hard pivot into the awful and the poor guy has not been able to catch a break since. Now, sure, some of these things have been factors well outside of his control. Like being trapped thousands of miles away while Bane killed Alfred , his belov'd mentor and adoptive father. Voltron = The Church?

Voltron might ring a bell to you if you watched the 1984 classic anime or if you have kiddos that like to watch lion shaped spacecrafts from the latest 2016 version on Netflix.  Either way this show has some moments that are fantastic to drive home.  A unique thing about the show is that Voltron is the title of the giant space robot that is formed from the five lion shaped spacecrafts (check out this link to see it for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtqKaUc6Uas&ab_channel=VOLTRON ). So these lions are piloted by five " paladins " that are to protect the galaxy from any evil threats.  Each one is powerful and has their own abilities, but they can't force the team to become Voltron.  Voltron is only made by the five paladins working in unity as one and having the same goal in their fight to save the galaxy .
